Danyel's Sanctuary

You have to take risks. We will only understand the miracle of life fully when we allow the unexpected to happen. -Paulo Coelho
Welcome to the place I call my own.

10 things I will start doing

1. Organize my personal blog.

I just realized that majority of the posts my blog contains are merely reposted. And I thought that I should try writing more about my personal interests and point of views. You know. Share a piece of me, hoping to make at least one person feel lighter everyday since it’s the least thing I can do. :)

2. Finish my soooo looong unfinished stories

I have this habit of typing or jotting down random thoughts in my head but never get to finish them. This summer, I started writing two short stories. Though the other one I think, would end up to be something pretty much like a novelette or close to that. The other one however, which IS the real short story is indie-like. I don’t know how to explain it though. But I really hope that the momentum would come back so I can seal the stories I can’t wait the world to read.

3. Start a sports blog. *Insert troll face here*

Hahaha. May disclaimer na ako agad. LOL. But seriously. I have tried writing sports stories and features and I know I still have a lot of catching up to do with my basketball and stocking up with my sports knowledge. But I am falling madly in love with sports! (I never saw myself saying this ever. Haha.) I am definitely not even an inch equal to my friend sports writers whom I have learned to adopt the craft, but I think I’ll be a good one if I persist. So yeah! Watch out for my sports-related posts soon! (Either here or in my new blog. :D)

3. Finish every book I start reading. And finish a lot.

Paulo Coelho’s one of my favorite authors among the many and he’s seriously brilliant. The last book I’ve read was Veronika Decides to Die and the current book I’m reading is his Aleph, something I borrowed from my dear Alexandra. :) I hope to finish it VERY SOON.

4. Be more health conscious.

I always get bullied whenever people would know that I work out and exercise a lot especially my friends. But I do think that being health conscious at an early age is like investing into a bank for a time deposit. Aside from it helps your body function like a well-oiled machine, it also makes your skin vibrant and spares you from buying excessive beauty products. :D

And since I already got a new pair of trainers I’ve been long praying for, I’m planning to participate in marathons na. And regularly jog sana. HAHA.

5. Grow my hair. Trololol.

into something like……. this!

*Sana pati mukha ko pwedeng maging ganyan. LOLJK!

Ngayon pa lang, I’m already feeling the pang of impatience that would further hit me while my hair starts to awkwardly grow. But because my mom badly wants to see her daughter look actually like a daughter and not a son, I’ll try. Haha. And also! I feel like being a lady na. Uberduper late bloomer na ako. I want to be a lady.  And the first step is to look like one. Nuxx!

6. Go back to singing.

I TERRIBLY MISS IT. Period.

7. Be a friend to anyone.

All these tough experiences I have gone through recently opened my eyes and my heart to the different kinds of people we get to encounter each day. Most of the times, we easily judge people of how they look and project themselves without bothering to know the reasons why. Because true enough, every single one of them faces a battle no matter how excellent they are in concealing it. No matter how wrong they may appear.

It wouldn’t hurt to understand and be a friend. :)

8. Always take good care of my parents.

I also share my shortcomings-a lot of them- but I guess that’s always a part of being a child. It’s always a part of being human. But I vow to be a daughter to make you guys prouder. I love you both so much! Haha.

My parents are the most important people in my life. :”)

10. Strive for greater things.

This is a virtue I have long forgotten and it makes me so sick. I don’t know what the hell happened but I began to be some social puppet and a major couch potato that I stopped braving hurdles. Instead, I gave up at almost every phase. And it’s just not me. IT IS NOT  ME. That’s never the Danielle I’ve been.

God, I want her back. I want the intense passion, fervor, diligence, courage, and faith back. And I know I’ll start seeing her again on June 13th. ;)

James, Wade combine for 70 as Heat ties up series with Indiana

With the threat of falling off the cliff with what could have been a 3-1 card in their best-of-seven games against Indiana Pacers, the Miami Heat was finally redeemed to life by the heroics of the James-Wade tandem, choosing to wake up and not gamble with their thin chances if ever the Pacers would have flown away again.

Indiana had almost slipped away from the disorganized boys of Coach Erik Spoelstra who played awfully majority of the game, allowing the Pacers to effortlesly dominate. But lo and behold when  Lebron James finally picked up the slack and showed why he has bagged the MVP crown thrice with Dwyane Wade backing him up.

The spit fire forward poured in a stunning 40 points, 18 rebounds, 9 assists, 2 steals and blocks apiece, while Wade chipped in 30 baskets- 22 of those in the fourth canto-, together with 9 rebounds and 6 assists as Miami rallied to tie up their series with Indiana with a 101-93 victory in their NBA Eastern Conference Semifinals at the Indianapolis Speedway on Sunday.

” I felt like I had to do whatever it took to win,” said a James who did not panic but instead managed to carry the Heat to triumph.

Even though the most celebrated big three was incomplete with Forward Chris Bosh missing out because of an injury, the magic of James and Wade still worked.. “Me and ‘Bron had it going,” said Wade who struggled with his game in the first half, only nailing 2 of his 13 outings but eventually swung back. ”We played off of each other very well. We both were aggressive at the same time. That’s beautiful basketball for the Miami Heat when we play that way.”

I just wanted to come out today and affect the game somehow. Obviously, I knew I was struggling a little bit on my offensive game. I wasn’t going to let that affect my overall game,” he added.

Udonis Haslem who obtained a cut over his right eye from Indiana’s Tyler Hansbrough also gave a big hand with four jumpers during the last six minutes and finished with 14 nets.

”Those guys carry a large load,” Haslem said of Wade and James. ”But sometimes we need other guys to step up and tonight was my turn. Next time it might be somebody else.”

Meanwhile when the Heat was sleeping soundly, the undermined Pacers has taken over the driver’s seat from the first half, dropping an 8-0 blitz in the second quarter and firing 38 consecutive baskets from the second to the third canto when Miami seemed to have been playing two versus five.

Pacer Danny Granger’s three-point-shot widened the deficit to 61-51, outrunning and outhustling Miami.

But the Heat finally showed its true fighting form with Wade and James collaborating for all but two baskets in a 25-5 run that rewrote the scoreboard to 76-66.

Miami carried on the momentum, dropping a 6-0 bomb in the fourth quarter, making it up 76-70. Wade and James made sure to keep an eye on the ball, avoiding to lose it like what happened earlier.

With 1:33 left on the clock however, the Pacers attempted to recover after Granger fired a three-pointer but Haslem responded with a short jumper and James sealed the win with three freebies during the last 16 seconds.

Now that Miami has bounced back to square one of the series with only three games left, two at their homecourt, Lebron still expects a tough rally.

”It’s still going to be a dogfight,” he assured.

Meanwhile, Indiana Coach Frank Vogel  thought that maybe, Center Roy Hibbert and David West could have made a difference if they had a longer playing time in the second half but admitted that the Pacers really felt short of stopping James and Wade.

”You get the ball out of one of those guy’s hands and it gets to the other guy’s,” he explained. ”It’s not like one superhero and a bunch of role guys.”

Danny Granger led the Indiana Pacers with 20 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, while Paul George and Roy Hibbert added 13 and 10 nets respectively.

I love you and I’m just here. Waiting patiently for our time.

"You have to get hurt. That’s how you learn. The strongest people out there, the ones who laugh the hardest with a genuine smile, those are the people who have fought the toughest battles. Because they’ve decided that they’re not going to let anything hold them down, they’re showing the world who’s the boss."

"I promise that this will be the last time you’ll see me. I won’t come back. I won’t put you through anything like this again. You can go on with your life without anymore interference from me. It will be as if I’d never existed."

I really want to finish DevCom but I'm having doubts because people are telling me that if I take it, I'm going to have a hard time finding a job? Should I shift? I really like talking and writing and I really think that I can do well with this but I don't know. Your advice? :/

First of all, you should understand that DevCom should I say has a different horizon from masscom, communication arts and other communication courses before you shift. :) It’s actually more about serving and training people because your primary client is the marginalized group. However, DevCom graduates are also very versatile. You can still work in advertising, in media companies, or in different sectors of the government if you prefer not to do DevCom practice. With your shifting should I say, it’s up to you. :) If you think this is where you belong, then go take a leap. It is never wrong to live out your passion. :)
